This uproarious farce takes place in New York in 1880 and features the irascible, widowed store owner Horace Vandergelder, who refuses to let his niece marry the man she loves. Planning to remarry, he employs Dolly Levi’s help in finding a suitable bride. But Dolly schemes to marry him herself.
